  • PONDER GOEMBEL has always thrived on art. Since her childhood growing up surrounded by artists in the multicultural city of Baltimore, Maryland and through her schooling at the Philadelphia College of Art she subsequently worked freelance as an illustrator in Philadelphia and New York City. After ten years Ponder moved to Bucks County PA and settled into raising a family and illustrating award winning children’s books for over twenty years. She is best known for her Richard Jackson books written by Lisa Wheeler. These books, Sailor Moo Cow at Sea, Old Cricket and Castaway Cats received numerous starred reviews and awards. Her illustrations have exhibited at the Society of Illustrators in NYC, as well as SCBWI Conferences and other venues.

A few years ago a change in the children’s book market drove Ponder to rediscover oil painting and teaching which she had only touched on before. Now Ponder enjoys teaching and painting landscapes, animals, pets and imaginative images. She has exhibited and sold her oil paintings, as well as her illustrative Giclée prints and children’s books at local events.
